200A & 320A Electrical Service Upgrades for Western Washington Homes

320 amp electrical service upgrade in Western Washington

If your home still has 100-amp electrical service, it was designed for a simpler era โ€” before EV chargers, heat pumps, hot tubs, home offices, and smart home systems all competed for power. A service upgrade from 100A to 200A (or from 200A to 320A) gives your home the capacity it needs today and room for what's coming tomorrow.

Short Stop Electrical LLC handles the full scope of service upgrades: coordination with your utility (PSE, Snohomish PUD, etc.), meter base replacement, service entrance cable, new weatherhead (if needed), and panel replacement or expansion. We pull all permits and schedule the utility disconnect to minimize your downtime.

Serving Tacoma, Snohomish County, King County, and all of Western Washington โ€” our licensed team gets this done efficiently with zero shortcuts.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a 200A or 320A service upgrade?

200 amps is the standard for most homes and covers EV chargers, heat pumps, and modern appliances. 320 amps is for homes with high electrical loads โ€” electric heating, multiple EV chargers, hot tubs, and large additions. We'll calculate your load during the estimate and recommend the right size.

How long does a service upgrade take?

Most residential service upgrades take one full day. The utility typically needs 2โ€“4 weeks of lead time for their side of the disconnect and reconnect โ€” we handle that scheduling for you.

Can I add a 240V circuit for an EV charger without a service upgrade?

Often yes, if your current service has enough capacity. We'll do a load calculation first. If your panel is at or near capacity, a service upgrade may be needed before adding a 50-amp EV circuit.
